Compared to whom?

“We use the latest cutting-edge technologies!”

Compared to whom?

“We value work-life balance!”

Compared to whom?

During a recent conversation, I heard about this company where the leaders have a motto: “Believe or Leave”. Guess what that translated to in reality? “Obey me, don’t ask questions.”

Guess what else they said about their company and culture? “Amazing culture! Cutting edge technology!” and all the rest.

If you hear big claims from your company leaders, always ask that follow-up question. Avoid the Kool-Aid.
